The New Beginnings Foundation Inc. was formed in 1990 by a group of Filipinos who realized the need to provide the Philippines with a humane, caring and effective treatment option for drug and alcohol dependency.

The New Beginnings foundation is the Asian pioneer of what is popularly known as the 12-Step based treatment approach combined with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Our primary orientation is that chemical dependency is a disease and has the capacity to affect anyone who cares for a person with a drug or alcohol problem. We are a caring community concerned with the recovery, growth and freedom not only of the addicted person but the entire family system as well.

Our treatment philosophy is based on the behavioural symptoms of addictive disease which are:

Loss of control
Continued use of a substance despite repetitive consequences

It is our belief that most of the psychological, social and environmental disturbances which accompany addiction are negative consequences of drug abuse itself and not a symptom of an underlying pathology. The symptoms of the addiction are progressive and predictable. Without treatment, this disease is potentially fatal.

We encourage our clients and their families to achieve the following goals:

Complete abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals
A significant improvement in the quality of life
An ongoing maintenance of a recovery program

Studies and research has brought about significant advances in understanding the nature of addiction. The New Beginnings program offers a unique integrated approach that combines the latest counselling techniques which effectively confront issues relevant to substance abuse and co-dependency. We utilize the principles of the 12-Step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Gamblers Anonymous (GA) combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , 1:1 counselling and group oriented activites.
